Known as “The Franchise Manager”, Greg Longstaff has a bag full of stories to tell from over 25 years of working with a variety of franchised businesses. Having successfully started, developed and managed franchise systems throughout Australasia, he has seen the pitfalls that almost all franchisors make when expanding into a new region.
Along the way he has built strong relationships with franchisees and in earning their trust and respect, has been able to show them how to take full advantage of their business system. This is the key to success for all franchise systems (WIN/WIN), which is Greg’s core message.
Greg’s story starts back in 1986 when he entered the business world as a franchisee in the city of Adelaide, in the southern state of Australia. Only in his early twenties at the time, he was not sure what career path he wanted, so he jumped into a home service franchise. In 1986 there was not the choice of business opportunities there are today, however before long, Greg had graduated to Area Manager and spent a number of years in field support and training. Over this period Greg helped the business expand into new regions and became a pioneer for the company as he helped them gain national and off shore exposure in these new markets.
Moving up the ladder to senior management, Greg got to see the other side of franchising and thrived on the “behind the scenes engine room stuff” such as marketing and sales management.
Over the years Greg has worked with other systems such as retail, mobile franchises and B2B models. He really understands what the X-factor franchisees need, to make a difference and put their personal stamp on their business.
Greg now sends his time working alongside Australasian and international franchise groups; offering support, expertise, innovative strategies and lead generation through his company Franchise Australasia.
